Lenwade Common Lakes, Gt Witchingham, Norfolk

There are three lakes and a section of the River Wensum which go to make up the Common Lakes (also known as the Gt Witchingham Fuel Allotment Lakes).

The largest lake (on the top right of the overhead shot) is the busiest one with regard to carp anglers, containing a good stock of fish that has recently been added to with some Simmo stockies, which may not be the most attractive of fish, but they are piling on the weight.

With depths to 16ft, there is plenty of water to go at. There are many features including gravel bars, big weed beds an island and some very prolific margin spots.

The lake on the left also contains a small stock of large carp, with a large grass carp also included in the stock. It is stuffed full of tench though, so may prove problematic if this is the lake you decide to target.

The long lake (at the bottom of the overhead photo) also contains carp, in fact, I saw a very dark carp (looked around 20lb) launch itself out of this lake up to the wrist of its tail, so it's worth a rod!

One of the big bonus' is that season ticket holders can drive around the lake. All proceeds from the lake go to pay for local pensioners heating costs, hence the strange name.
