This lake is a bit of a hole in the ground if I'm honest! To be
fair though, the farmer who runs the lake is trying to pull it into
shape. In the past the lake has suffered from theft of fishing gear
and even a car being dumped into the lake! Thankfully there is now a
gate in place which is locked in the evenings to stop such
occurrences.
The lake was dug to provide gravel for the bypass bridge which runs
beside it. The lake is around three acres, and pretty level the
whole way through. There is not too many features to fish to, in
fact it seems most anglers tend to completely ignore the reed beds
at the northern end of the lake!
The carp are well pressured on here, and the ones I have seen all
show mouth damage, this may be due to the amount of litter that ends
up in the lake (some from the anglers themselves, not good) or from
the rig's which are used on the water, or indeed from the people who
fish the water.
The stocking levels are debatable, I have witnessed two twenty
pound carp (one pictured below) and there are reports of carp
touching the 30lb barrier.
There is another water situated near the farm entrance, which is
more of a match type water. And the owner has just had another pit
dug, which once again looks like a match oriented type of water.
One big bonus of this lake is that there is a McDonalds at the
entrance to the farm! Result!
