Gunton Estate Lake, Norfolk

Gunton is a large almost triangular shaped estate lake up in North Norfolk.

There are swims well spaced around the lake, but for our Social trip in December 2004 we opted to fish the open bank (as we could all cover water whilst still being close for a social).

The lake is very shallow and silty, to be fair, the other guys were using helicopter rigs, but I was using clips and not having too much trouble with the leads (2.5oz) getting plugged into the silt.

On our trip John scored first on the carp front (after Jay had the usual, a small bream), John's carp is in the Tiddlers Gallery, I managed to lose my only run of the day when the carp decided it was a salmon and my B725 opened out.

Then at last knockings Geezer chipped in with a scale perfect 19.14 common (pictured below).

A lot of the fish were holding out in the middle of the lake, so if you can punch out a bait as far as possible then you'll stand a good chance of catching one.

All the runs on the day were from fluro hookbaits, I believe, mine was lost on an HBS Indian Spice popup.

All in all, a nice place to fish, it has to be worth a good go on floaters in the summer!
